Making a computer uses as much water as an average family does in 13 years, which only demonstrates the impact of technology on the environment.

Technology is increasingly accessible, easy, and visible, but there is an aspect that we do not always see, as it is often hidden. It is therefore a visible technology, but at the same time hidden.

We use technology daily to see something on the internet, have fun on social networks, or even discover something. Moreover, we always need computers, mobile phones, tablets, among others, to perform such tasks and actions with technology in our daily lives.

But have you really thought about the product you are holding in your hands? What happened for you to have it? What was caused, what was not prevented for you to be able to use it?

We always use these devices without thinking about their impacts and causes, such as waste, greenhouse gas emissions, pollution and electronic waste production they cause, or even the mining of rare metals and the intensive use of energy and toxic waste. There is an impact of technologies on our environment, on our planet!

On average, 150,000 liters of water are needed to manufacture a laptop and 1600 to 4000 kWh of energy, which is equivalent to the water consumption of two years and the electricity consumption of 4 months for a family of three.

According to Gerry McGovern, "Between 2006 and 2021, about 4.8 billion laptops and desktops were manufactured. With 190,000 liters of water per computer, this represents more than 900 trillion liters of water, or the equivalent of 365 million Olympic swimming pools."

These numbers only show us how necessary it is to reduce, recycle, and reuse. By using a second-hand laptop and therefore recycled, we are saving more than 150,000 liters of water and 1600 kWh that we would consume by buying a new computer. What if we think differently? What if we make a little difference?

There are refurbished computers, second-hand tools with as many benefits as a new laptop and with the advantage of having a lower environmental impact and therefore being Refurbished. This is also an easy, affordable solution and much more advantageous in terms of price and its impacts.

We sell laptops to individuals and companies looking to have a positive impact on the environment, to students who need to save money, to those who want to make a conscious choice, among others.

Technology is a force that connects the world, but it can also disconnect it. The choice is ours. And the difference starts with you. Your next device could be part of the problem... or the solution.

If you want to know more about how to help, explore our selection of refurbished computers and discover how to help this planet that is so much ours and yours!
