Two-year warranty on all products

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – a mantra much loved by Digiplanet that has driven environmental awareness in recent decades. However, a company called TerraCycle has elevated these concepts to a new level, transforming the way we view waste management and sustainability.

Founded in 2001 by Tom Szaky, TerraCycle was born out of the need to find innovative solutions for waste that, traditionally, was not recyclable. Since then, the company has been working tirelessly to revolutionize the way we handle waste.

The idea for TerraCycle originated in a student dormitory at Princeton University, where Tom Szaky and a group of colleagues began exploring new ways to turn organic waste into natural fertilizers. Quickly, the idea expanded to a broader range of waste. The company adopted a unique approach: instead of focusing solely on conventional recyclable materials, they concentrated on finding solutions for "unavoidable" waste, such as flexible plastic packaging, coffee capsules, and hard-to-recycle electronic products.

The business model of TerraCycle is built around partnership with companies, governments, and individuals, to find ways to recycle the most challenging waste. The company develops specific recycling programs for different types of waste, offering consumers and businesses the opportunity to collect these items and send them for recycling. TerraCycle is also known for its rewards programs, where participants can earn donations for charities by collecting a certain amount of waste.

However, TerraCycle did not stop at recycling. The company also developed upcycling solutions, transforming waste into new products. For example, waste from consumer product packaging is turned into furniture materials, accessories, and even fashion. This approach not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills but also opens up new possibilities for sustainable business.

"EarthCycle's vision for the future is ambitious and inspiring. The company is committed to expanding its global reach - as its presence is still limited, not being available in, for example, Portugal - and working to eliminate even more waste that challenges conventional recycling."

Furthermore, TerraCycle is constantly exploring new ways to educate and engage people on their journey towards sustainability, just like Digiplanet. TerraCycle believes that by creating practical and innovative solutions, they can catalyze positive changes towards a cleaner and healthier world.
