DELL VS LENOVO VS HP

When it comes time to choose a computer, there are several factors that influence the decision. The technical characteristics, the brand, the design, the price and up to after-sales support. In this article, we present some of the advantages of three of the most dominant brands on the market: DELL, LENOVO and HP!

In Portugal, according to a study carried out by DECO, HP is the chosen by consumers.

DELL

Dell is an American technology company headquartered in Texas. Founded in 1984, it is currently one of the largest technology companies in the world, employing over 100,000 people.

Dell produces desktop computers, portable computers and accessories. It is known for its make-to-order approach and direct sales.

Dell produces several notebook computers using different processors such as Intel and AMD. Your cheapest laptops typically use dual-core processors and quad-core processors are installed on gaming computers and professional machines.

Dell PCs come in a variety of screen sizes. The 17-inch screens on gaming laptops have impressive image quality and FHD resolution. Even the 11-inch screens on the low-end models are high definition. As for graphics, Dell uses both NVIDIA and AMD Radeon graphics processors, both with a good history and industry standard.

The consumers' most frequent complaint regarding Dell computers is the battery life. Most of their machines only contain 3-cell batteries. 4 or 6 cell batteries are more common when better operation and battery life is expected.

LENOVO

Lenovo is a Chinese brand based in Beijing, China and North Carolina, USA. Founded in 1984, this company currently has more than 54,000 employees. Lenovo produces smartphones, televisions, tablets and a range of portable computers. The brand's great successes worldwide were the model ThinkPad and the IdeaPad.

Most Lenovo portable computers come equipped with Intel processors. Like Dell, dual-core processors are installed in low-cost notebook computers, while more expensive use quad-core processors.

As for graphics, Lenovo stays with Intel and uses their range of HD graphics processors. Laptops for gaming use GeForce processors, known for their high performance.

Lenovo's disadvantage over its direct competition is the image resolution.Laptop computers have various screen sizes available but do not favor high resolution displays compared to similarly priced PCs from other brands

Comparing to Dell, Lenovo has better feedback from customers in terms of battery life. Lenovo notebook computers use 6-cell batteries, which causes battery life to range from 5 to 10 hours. If you are looking for a durable PC, Lenovo is a good choice.

In terms of price, if you are on a lower budget or looking for a machine at competitive prices, Lenovo is a great choice. Their most basic laptops start at €300. But if you want a laptop with more advanced features (for gaming, for example), these can cost almost €2500.

HP

HP, or Hewlett-Packard, is an American company, founded in California in 1939. It has become the leading manufacturer PC in 2007 and held this title until 2013, when it was replaced by Lenovo. However, in Portugal, HP continues to lead, being the consumers' preferred notebook brand!

HP PCs use multiple processors depending on the cost of the machine. HP mid/low budget notebook computers come with a i5-10210U of 1.8 processor GHz. The more expensive equipment has a Intel i7 1.8-4.0 GHz.

If you are on a tighter budget, you can get an HP for just €280 or the HP Pavilion x360 for around €400. Gaming laptops with better graphics and large storage are around 2,000€.
